- Earlier, the GMDSS Goc Booklet was issued for 10 years, now it comes either with 20 years or a lifetime based on fee payment.
- A minimum of 6 months of sailing experience is required in the last 5 years.
- Issued for 20 years or lifetime.
- To be applied online at Saral Sanchar.

- In case your GMDSS Goc booklet or the GMDSS Goc renewal is lost.
- To be applied offline to the respective RLO from where your GMDSS Goc was issued.
- You need to file an online FIR for the lost.
- Validity will remain the same.
How to Renew Your GMDSS GOC Booklet
1. Create an User ID at Saral Sanchar
Register on Saral Sanchar portal with following details:
1. Registration type: Individual (WPC Exam/Certificates)
2. Your PAN Number and D.O.B
3. Address and Email ID
4. User ID and one time password will be sent to your email ID.
5. Login with the credentials and create the password.
2. Update the Personal Details
After the successful registration, you need to fill in the personal details that include Height, Complexion, Eyes and hair color. Make sure to fill in the details as per your GMDSS GOC Booklet.
3. Apply for the Migration
To renew your GOC, you need to apply for a migration certificate to ensure that your certificate meets the required standards.
- On the migration tab, enter your GOC number in the format GOC-X-1234 (GMDSS GOC issued by RLO Delhi, RLO Mumbai and RLO Chennai) and for GMDSS GOC issued by RLO Kolkata as GOC-KOL/R/XXXX.
- Now, Upload your GMDSS GOC Booklet and enter the issue and expiry date as mentioned.
(PDF should be of maximum 1MB; RLO Chennai - GMDSS GOC Booklet should be duly attested by the gazetted officer)
It will take 2-3 weeks for the approval of the migration; if there are any queries then update Step 1 or 2 accordingly.
4. Apply for the GMDSS GOC renewal
Once the migration is approved, you can now proceed to apply for your GMDSS GOC Renewal.
- Get your CDC attested by the Gazetted Officer (Front, Back, and sailing stamp pages)
- Enter Ship Name, Sign in, and Sign off dates as per the uploaded CDC.
- Proceed to the payment.
- Pay the fees and it's done.
It will take another 3-4 weeks for the approval of the GMDSS GOC renewal application.
Generally, query comes due to improper attestation or blurry CDC.
5. Download your GMDSS GOC renewal
Once approved, you can download your GMDSS Goc renewal certificate from the portal.
